What are dental implants?

A natural tooth has two parts: the crown you chew with, and the root hidden under your gum. When you lose a tooth, both are gone — and that missing root is what most replacement options never address.

A dental implant replaces the root. It’s a small titanium post — the same material used in artificial hips — placed into the jawbone where the natural root used to be. Over a few months, the bone fuses to the titanium, creating a foundation as stable as the original tooth’s root. A custom crown is then attached on top, completing the restoration.

Unlike a bridge, a dental implant doesn’t require grinding down healthy neighboring teeth. Unlike a denture, it doesn’t slip, doesn’t need to be removed at night, and doesn’t lose grip over time. Because it’s anchored in bone, it also prevents the jaw deterioration that follows long-term tooth loss.

Why Choose Hanson Family Dental for Your Implants

Most South Shore practices refer the surgical part of implants out to a separate periodontist or oral surgeon. We don’t. Every step happens right here in our Hanson office.

Our Dental Implant Process

Every implant case is a little different, but here is what most patients can expect at Hanson Family Dental.

1

Consultation & 3D imaging

A thorough exam, a conversation about your goals, and 3D imaging of your jaw — so we can see bone density, nerve locations, and sinus structure before any decisions are made. You leave with a clear plan, timeline, and cost.

2

Treatment planning

Using your 3D scan, we plan the exact position and angle of your implant before the procedure ever begins. This is what separates a comfortable, predictable surgery from a complicated one.

3

Implant placement

The implant is placed during a single appointment in our office. Sedation options are available. If a tooth extraction is needed, the implant can often be placed during the same visit.

4

Healing & osseointegration

Over the next 3 months, your jawbone naturally fuses to the titanium implant. You go about normal life during this time. We schedule check-ins to make sure healing is on track.

5

Final restoration

Once the implant is fully integrated, we take a scan and send it to our partner laboratory to fabricate your custom crown. From there, we attach the abutment and final crown — designed and fitted by our team to match your surrounding teeth in shape, shade, and bite.

6

Long-term follow-up

In healthy patients who maintain good oral hygiene, implants are designed to last decades. As your general dental home, we keep an eye on your implants at every cleaning — no need to coordinate with an outside specialist.

Implant Treatment Options

Implants are not one-size-fits-all. Depending on how many teeth are missing and the condition of the surrounding bone, the right solution looks different for every patient.

For one missing tooth

Single Tooth Implant

A single implant supports a single crown, replacing just the affected tooth without involving the neighbors.

For several missing teeth

Implant-Supported Bridge

Two implants support a bridge of three or more teeth — more stable and longer-lasting than a traditional bridge. The bridge stays firmly in place while you eat, and it never needs to be taken out.

For a full arch

All-on-4 Implants

Four strategically placed implants support a complete arch of fixed teeth. Life-changing for denture patients.

Removable + secure

Implant-Supported Dentures

A small number of implants snap into a denture — significantly reducing slipping while keeping the option to remove.

Patient Review

I’m from out of town and had an emergency situation where a tooth came out. It was very embarrassing to be missing a tooth right in the middle. Dr. Lee saw me and did a fantastic job creating an interim solution which allowed me to confidently speak and smile for the remainder of my vacation. Due to both doctor’s kindness, I’ll be coming back here for the permanent solution. I definitely recommend Dr. Russo and Dr. Lee.

Dental Implant Cost & Financing

Cost is the question every implant patient is thinking about before they ever pick up the phone. We won’t list specific prices online — every case is genuinely different — but we won’t dodge the subject either.

You’ll leave your consultation with a clear, written estimate. No surprises, no upcharges, no hidden fees.

Worth knowing: in healthy patients who maintain good oral hygiene, a dental implant is designed to last decades. When compared against repeatedly replacing a bridge every 10 years, an implant often costs less over the long run — and preserves the jawbone in a way no other replacement option can.

Most Insurance Accepted

We work with most major dental plans to maximize your benefits.

CareCredit Financing

Break the cost into monthly payments that fit your budget.

Multiple Payment Methods

Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover.

Long-Term Value

With good care, designed to last decades — often less expensive than a bridge replaced every 10 years.
